What are the requirements to sit for the HRCI® exam?

PHR Eligibility

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a Master's degree or higher, OR

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a Bachelor's degree, OR

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with less than a Bachelor's degree


SPHR Eligibility

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a Master’s degree or higher, OR

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a Bachelor’s degree, OR

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with less than a Bachelor's degree


Is there a different course for PHR candidates and SPHR candidates?

  • No, the course is designed to combine elements of both PHR and SPHR.


My company requires a grade for me to receive tuition reimbursement, will I be graded?

  • Yes, there will be quizzes and tests in which you will receive a grade for.
